Welcome to the DT Kids Academy website. Our Academy programme, hosted at The Technology Hub's Digital Discovery Centre in Taupō, is designed to nurture young people's sense of adventure and discovery with new technologies through creative play. We want to give them a head start in this important, new learning area soon to be taught in all schools across New Zealand.

Our Centre is owned by The Technology Hub Ltd - an innovative Kiwi education company dedicated to the teaching and learning of Digital Technologies. We have been working with teachers, schools and children across New Zealand since 2011.

Raspberry Pi computers can be used to control electronics through programming and they can also be used just like a normal pc or laptop.

Our Digital Discovery Centre has a specialist computer suite equipped with the latest Raspberry Pi computers. These credit-card-sized computers are suitable for both desktop and physical computing applications. We also have a library of HAT’s (Hardware Attached on Top), Arduino boards and add-ons that enable rapid modelling and prototyping, whatever the project. We support Open Source and use free-to-use software at every stage so that learners can continue with their projects at home with no additional costs. We also have two 3D printers using both ABS and PLA materials. We use recycled materials wherever possible and encourage prototyping and modelling using cardboard and paper-based materials.

Our after-school, Homeschool and school holiday enrichment programmes incorporate STEAM learning with Digital Technologies. We focus on creative play and exploration to give your child the confidence to actively engage in these areas. Enrol your child now for Term 1 2020, or check out our Creative Tech Holiday Programme.
